Ayumi's body is very narrow and can almost be described as "boyish" for she basically no curves whatsoever (she does not seem to mind, however). She has a lot of responsibility placed upon her as her older sister is not around anymore. Ayumi's father is a monk and is not a shinobi and neither his her mother, who works as a botanist. Her mother grows many plants and herbs and then sells them to iryo-nin and local apothecaries who need the plants to make medicine. Her older sister, Ayame, was the first shinobi in her family ever to be born and therefore, is highly praised and regarded. Ayame is five years older than Ayumi but is already a Jounin, which places even more pressure on Ayumi than she would like. As a child, Ayumi was rather quiet but enjoyed playing with her sister and had a close relationship with her. However, once her family realized that Ayame would grow up to be a ninja, they immediately stopped her from playing with Ayumi and focused on getting her as prepared as possible for the Academy and her shinobi life.
