Namely the Time Frames in RPG.
Posts occur in a chronological order. Meaning events of post two, happened AFTER post one. You may not do things in post two that affect post one because they happened in the past. However, you may do things in post two that will effect post three. For example:
Is a completely illogical rule. Quite simply if you state certain things; which (EVERYTHING) takes time. And you don't specify the amount of time an action takes you have to look at a reasonable example of such an action taking place.
E.g. I use Fireball jutsu.
First thing you know is that it takes eight hand signs. I never stated how long I took to do the jutsu but you can make a guess by looking at my characters personal usage of the jutsu. Is it his first time? Probably not. Is he practiced with it? Maybe. If it is his signature move time is shaved off but not too much.
Example: Jiraiya is a Kage Ranked ninja this is an undisputed fact. One of his signature techniques is Summoning jutsu.
Five hand signs took him about two seconds to complete. So assume if Fireball is one of your signature moves, two seconds per five hand signs. Add about 1.3 seconds for three hand signs. So overall you just took about three seconds to use this signature jutsu.
Also further assume everything is flowing. No one just STOPS in the middle of a fight to let their opponent do hand signs, in fact quite the opposite. Each combatant is constantly moving in real time.
The only way the above rule actually works is if in a posting order you put a specified time. Which makes sense to be perfectly honest. Each posting order or Initiative can be a five to ten second block of time. You post your thing, your opponent posts his etc etc. Then the next initiative the response can be posted. This could get annoying and messy however, which is why anyone with more then a rock could see that there are two solutions. The real time solution, everything in your post takes time to do. Note how long something should take, and then the counter attack/defense should be based around the amount of time something takes.
Because the above rule assumes everything is freeze framed, and is indeed counteracted by the following
*Poster one dashes at his enemy in an attempt to prevent incoming hand seals*
*Poster two is unable to complete hand seals because poster one has done something to prevent them*
As you can see here, the seals would be prevented, however, if poster two writes into his own post that he moved away to prevent his seals from being tampered with, then he can follow through as planned.
Which the above is quite similar to what I just stated and NOT what the rule states.
(Note the rule says your next post has to start AFTER the previous one, which means situations where someone takes a full ten to fifteen seconds to do an action the person after then is locked in no matter what. Which is not only an incorrect way of doing things it is also illogical. No one is going to stand around for ten to fifteen seconds while someone is doing a bunch of different tasks.)
Which means this rule and the description thereof of it is a double negative and indeed should be removed and instead put in place is the statement with each action how long roughly your character would take with said actions, then if you take more then three or four seconds that is more then enough time for someone to be doing something in the mean time, so please keep that in mind.
