Summons and summoning contracts
Within the universe that is Naruto there are many different animal tribes that shinobi have learned how to summon over the years. The ability to summon animal tribes or just one specific individual has always been a strong way to gain the upper hand in a battle through sheer numbers. Not all ninja are summoners however and it takers one with a special aptitude with ninjutsu to summon them with the standard summoning technique. What is the summoning technique and summons in general well we shall explain.
Summons are animals one has formed a bond with and can summon to their location with but a small blood sacrifice. The art of summoning said animals is first gained when one meets and signs/forms a contract with the species in character. The signing of an animal contract is typically done in the persons own blood so that there is a sample of it on hand for the animals so the summoning technique can work between them, and it shows commitment to the animals in question to be their ally. Summons themselves can be either small or massive, speak human languages or not all depending on the lore of the tribe and the creator (aka you) wishes making them very fun to write up.
What do summons get though? Well Summons are powerful in their own right and are equal to the level of shinobi that can summon them comparatively in power. In terms of internal power there are four levels of power within the shinobi world for summons to be classified as they are as follows: Runt=Genin, Soldier=Chunnin, Advanced=Jounin, Boss=Kage. For a further example view the dog’s kakashi summons as Soldier class while Gamabunta and Mandra are advanced, and Katsuya and the great toad sage would be boss class as they are the leaders of their tribes. There are also two common types of summons which are solo and group summons. Group summons can be anywhere from 2 up to 6 individuals summoned as one expense to your chakra while solos cost the same but are just one summon. The difference between solo and group summons besides numbers is that Solo summons have the ability to be summoned as a group too; though it will cost 1.5 the chakra cost it would normally cost to summon one of them up to 3 solo summons can be summoned at one time; while group summons cannot be summoned in this way and each one is solid cost. This way of summoning only applies if you summon them all at the same time, and does not apply throughout the thread. Unless otherwise stated advanced ranks can summon the class of summon one rank above their own, So for instance a advanced genin can summon soldier while an advanced jounin can summon bosses.
Every summon has Jutsu, element and talent slot restrictions just like an RPC comparatively does the difference being that they have far less than an RPC. They are not the stars but rather devices for character growth and story and such aren’t as powerful as RPC’s. Summons themselves have the following limits labeled out in tables below for their elements talent slots and jutsu slots, and it should be noted combo elements are traded for regular element slots whenever noted in a 2 (element slots) to 1 (combo slot) fashion, and the trader can only happen if they have combo element slots avalible:
Summon level | Jutsu slots | Talent slots |
Runt | 2 | 0 |
Soldier | 3 | 0 |
Advanced | 4 | 0 |
Boss | 5 | 1 |
Summon level | element slots | combo element slots |
Runt | 0 | 0 |
Soldier | 1 | 0 |
Advanced | 1 | 0 |
Boss | 2 | 1 |
Jutsu slots mean that is the total number of jutsu (canon or custom) that can be known per summon of that level. The same applies for talent slots, though certain talents such as Earth grudge fear, Jashin experiment, Hydration technique, etc. will not be allowed on a summon and as such they tend to be more minor or background related boosts than full blown RPC level talents.
Summons are limited in number per contract, and as such you must have at least 1 boss class (unless otherwise specified in a talent/bloodline) and no more than 1 boss class. You can only have 5 total summons on your contract including the boss class though they can be made up of any combination between group and solo summons.
Summoning contracts themselves are made using the item template and cost standard Ryou; they can be in scroll, paper, tattoo, etc. form and are very flexible so long as it can be signed in blood and remain just fine. Summoning contracts themselves do not cost Ryou to get and instead require the IC signing and meeting of the summons in question and are gained with the learning of the summoning technique.
