Name: Ashitaka Nara
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 196 lbs
Appearance:
The Nara have always been known for black hair pulled back, and Ashitaka is no different in that regard. What he is different in, is his eyes. The green eyes he bears are unlike most Nara’s, acquired from a descendant that brought new blood to the Nara clan. He has a slightly soft face, with a bit of a naturally boyish quality to it. His eyes hold a fierce quality that shows his passion as he closes in on his targets.
As a young man, Ashitaka wore a simple t-shirt with the Nara clan emblem on the back and a pair of shinobi pants to hold his various tools and toys, especially the yo-yo he has nearly never been without. The blue yo-yo was given to him by Cho Akamichi when they were boys. He has kept it as a symbol of their friendship ever since, and has replaced the string countless times.
As a gennin, Ashitaka changed into the Nara’s trusty mesh shirt. A one armed jacket took the place of the t-shirt and he wrapped the Konoha band around his head. His pants remained, as well as the yo-yo in the pocket. The jacket was later destroyed in combat.
As a chuunin, he wore the standard flak jacket over his mesh shirt, otherwise he didn’t change much. It wasn’t until he became a jounin that he made a change. The flak jacket remained, but he gained a sleeve on the left side made of deerskin. The sleeve is used often to hide a bit of armor beneath, as well as a hidden surprise for enemies who think they have the upper hand; a hidden blade that can focus his chakra.
Race: Human
Hair: Shoulder length, black, usually pulled back.
Eyes: Green
Body: Slim and Muscular, he shows definite muscle tone with little fat
Ethnicity: Konohagakure
Personality:
Upbeat:
Unlike countless Nara before him, Ashitaka has a positive outlook on the world. He thinks the best of people more often than not, and tries to extend that outlook to the world. He is not, however, foolish. He is well aware that the world can and has been a cruel place on multiple occasions, but he believes that a good future can be found. He also hopes without end that he can help bring it about.
Tactical:
Like countless Nara before him, Ashitaka is a born tactician. Whether it is the battlefield or the political arena, Ashitaka does what he can to keep steps ahead of rivals and allies alike so that he can utilize them all to best effect. His tactical mind has saved him from many otherwise deadly situations and possible terrible faux pas with the Daimyos and other clan leaders.
Sarcastic:
He knows how to push people’s buttons when he wants to. He often uses sarcastic remarks to belittle ideas that he finds obviously flawed or even downright stupid, not that he does it to hurt feelings mind you, and is often seen apologizing for accidentally hurting feelings. Ashitaka believes that everyone is entitled to their own ideas, but thinks people should think before speaking, and often undercuts those who do not.
Blunt:
A trait he gets from one of his ancestors, Ashitaka doesn’t beat around the bush. When there is something that needs to be said, he says it. When something needs to be addressed, he does so. Despite his positive outlook, he is also the first to realize when something bad has taken hold, and will do what he must when it is the case. This has served him well in combat as well as the politics that come with position.

Jutsus:
- Spoiler:
- Name: Bunshin no Jutsu - Clone Technique
Type: Ninjutsu
Rank: E (Basic)
Requirements: None
Description: Bunshin no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. The Bunshin technique creates a copy of the ninja without substance. The copy resembles the ninja in every way. This clone can function as a distraction or as means to confuse one's opponent. As soon the Bunshin gets attacked or comes into contact with an opponent, it will disperse.
Name: Henge no Jutsu - Transformation Technique
Type: Ninjutsu
Rank: E (Basic)
Requirements: None
Description: Henge no Jutsu is a ninjutsu technique which every ninja learns at the Ninja Academy. Henge allows the ninja to transform themselves into any person or object. This allows the ninja to move with stealth or to trick their opponents. However, it does not grant one the properties of said objects or skills of that person, meaning turning into a weapon will not allow you to cut an opponent and turning into a dog will not give you a great sense of smell.
This technique can also be used in conjunction with someone, who may a person, a pet or a summoning creature, in which case it is called Konbi Henge (Combination Transformation). However, its principles remain the same.
Name: Kawarimi no Jutsu - Body Substitution Technique
Type: Ninjutsu
Rank: E (Basic)
Requirements: None
Description: Kawarimi no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu technique, and when in danger the ninja will quickly substitute them self with another nearby object. This can be a block of wood or even another person. This allows the ninja to quickly flee and hide while the original object takes the brunt of their opponents attack. Naturally, it won't work with another person unless their skill gap is enormous, and the object to replace one’s self with must be close in size and weight to the ninja themselves. This technique must be setup a little ahead when fighting skilled opponents; otherwise, you may end up getting struck because you wouldn't have enough time to use it.
Name: Kinobori no Waza - Act of Tree Climbing
Type: Ninjutsu
Rank: C (Basic)
Requirements: None
Description: A skill that every self-respecting shinobi must have. It is based on concentrating chakra to the soles of one's feet and using it to stick to objects, which would allow one to walk on vertical surfaces and even upside down. This is also often used as chakra control training, since the soles of the feet are said to be the hardest place to control your chakra.
Name: Nawanuke no Jutsu - Escaping Skill
Type: Taijutsu
Rank: D (Basic)
Requirements: None
Description: A very basic skill, without which a shinobi would become the laughing stock of the village. It allows them to escape ropes and similar simple restraints. However, advanced knots and heavier restraints than a simple rope maybe too much for a basic skill like this to handle.
Name: Suimen Hokou no Waza - Act of Water Surface Walking
Type: Ninjutsu
Rank: B (Basic)
Requirements: Kinobori
Description: A more advanced technique than Kinobori, it allows one to walk on water or other similar liquid or amorphous objects. It is used in a similar fashion to its predecessor, but the shinobi must also release a constant flow of chakra into the water to keep themselves on its surface. It is often used as advanced chakra control training, since it takes the same basic concept as tree climbing technique and kicks it up a notch.
Name: Shunshin no Jutsu - Body Flicker Technique
Prerequisites: None
Style: Ninjutsu
Rank: C
Description: Shunshin no Jutsu is a basic Ninjutsu technique. The ninja will appear and disappear in an instant, allowing them to retreat or attack suddenly. To facilitate the movement the ninja will often use nearby elements such as mist, sand or leaves to mask their appearance or disappearance. While it may seem like the user simply appeared or disappeared, the technique is actually a momentary increase in movement speed towards a set location.
Name: Kage Shuriken no Jutsu - Shadow Shuriken Technique
Prerequisites: Multiple Shuriken or Similar Weapon
Style: Ninjutsu
Rank: D
Description: This is a simple ninjutsu used to disguise projectile attacks. The user will throw a shuriken or similar weapon at an enemy. However, they will secretly launch another same weapon right afterwards, so that the second weapon is hidden in the opponent's blind spot behind the first. A rather basic technique, it may catch even experienced shinobi off-guard.
Name: Kanashibari no Jutsu - Temporary Body Paralysis Technique
Prerequisites: None
Style: Ninjutsu
Rank: C
Description: This is a rather basic technique that does not require any hand seals to be used. Ideally, it temporarily paralyzes a number of targets. However, this is not likely to work on strong opponents, unless they are considerably weaker than the user themselves.
Name: Soushuuha - Multiple Advancing Blades
Prerequisites: None
Style: Ninjutsu
Rank: C
Description: A useful technique that utilizes chakra to float projectile weapons in front of the shinobi. The user must first put some chakra into a weapon as they throw it, and they can then make it float in the air several inches in front of them. A large number of projectiles can be made to float like this, but it requires greater concentration with each additional weapon and also depends on their size. These projectiles can then be launched at a target all at once, which allows one to have more ranged attack options than if they were throwing the weapons.
Name: Genjutsu Break
Prerequisites: Kai – Release
Style: Ninjutsu
Rank: A
Description: This is an advanced skill for breaking genjutsu, however, no shinobi should be without it. It allows one to break illusions without hurting themselves, does not require any hand seals and works against stronger techniques than Kai. Since every genjutsu in essence is the opponent confusing one's five senses by interfering with their chakra flow in a specific way, momentarily stopping your chakra flow completely and then reversing it, which is what this skill is about, can break theoretically any illusion. Naturally, one's skill in controlling their chakra determines how well this will work.
Allows one to break a genjutsu of S rank or below. For the lower rank characters, genjutsu of A rank or below take one whole post to break, while genjutsu of S rank take two posts. For higher rank characters, genjutsu of A and S rank take a whole post to break, while genjutsu of B rank and below take half a post. Kinjutsu genjutsu require twice as much time, though only higher rank characters can break A rank kinjutsu, and none can break S rank kinjutsu.
Fuuton:
- Spoiler:
- Name: Daitoppa - Great Breakthrough
Prerequisites: Fuuton
Style Ninjutsu
Rank: C
Description: Fuuton • Daitoppa is a Ninjutsu technique which utilizes the Wind Element. After bringing his hand to his mouth, Orochimaru will blow a large blast of wind capable of leveling almost anything in its way. A variation of the technique involves a smaller blast of wind which gets ignited with flame.
Name: Kazekiri - Wind Cutter
Prerequisites: Fuuton
Style: Ninjutsu
Rank: A
Description: Fuuton • Kazekiri no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique utilizing the Wind Element. To utilize this technique, the ANBU member will form the needed hand seal. A large slicing wind will then be created which can cut through his opponent. This can be used to immobilize large summons. This will be the initial attack in an elemental trio used by the ANBU.
Katon:
- Spoiler:
- Name: Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique (Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu)
Prerequisites: Katon Element
Style: Ninjutsu
Rank: C-Rank
Description: A technique where chakra kneaded inside the body is converted into fire, and expelled from the mouth in a massive orb of roaring flame or as a continuous flamethrower. The scope of the attack is altered by controlling the volume of chakra that is mustered. The released flames will engulf their target, and leave a crater on the ground's surface. This technique apparently requires more than average chakra reserves and most genin should not be able to do this technique.
Name: Fire Release: Ash Pile Burning (Katon: Haisekishō)
Prerequisites: Katon Element
Style: Ninjutsu
Rank: B-Rank
Description: The user spews a stream of chakra infused gun-powder from their mouth, which surrounds the region. As the gunpowder is composed entirely of ash, it stays in the air around the victim like a cloud, which can be used like a smokescreen. After surrounding the enemy with the ash, the user can ignite it with a flint placed on their teeth beforehand to create a spark, resulting in a violent explosion, burning the enemy. However, this technique requires keen senses to read the air currents, the insight to read the movements of the enemy, the tactical experience to not also enfold one's allies in the flames, and careful attention for the timing of the ignition.
Name: Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique
Prerequisites: Katon Element
Style: Ninjutsu
Rank: C-Rank
Description: The user breathes fire along a cord or any other type of long object, which rushes forward in straight line catching the enemy on fire. A line of enemies can be used as the conductor as well. The flames are meant to target, and assault the enemy's upper body just like a projectile weapon.
Clan Jutsu:
- Spoiler:
- Name: Kage Mane no Jutsu [Shadow Immitation Technique]
Requirements: Nara Clan Member
Description: This technique was originally was developed by and is the basis of all Justus, used by the Nara Clan. This technique is performed by the user stretching out their shadow to that of their opponent. When the shadows meet, the opponent will be frozen, forced to mimic the movements of the user. The length of which this technique can be held (Bind Time), depends on the Users Rank.
Note: If the user is of a higher rank than you, Bind Time is halved. (No lower than one post)
Bind Time:
E Rank: 1 Posts
D Rank: 3 Posts
C Rank: 5 Posts
B Rank: 7 Posts
A Rank: 10 Posts
S Rank: 15 Posts
Name: Kage Mane Shuriken no Jutsu [Shadow Immitation Shuriken Technique]
Type: Ninjutsu
Rank: B
Requirements: Kage Mane no Jutsu
Description: This Jutsu is often used in a situation where holding the opponents shadow may be difficult. It is performed by the user taking hold of a weapon, such as a Kunai, with Kage Mane. The user then stabs this weapon through the opponents shadow, via Kage Mane. Once this has been done, the opponent will be frozen without the user having to maintain Kage Mane.
Bind Time: The Bind lasts half the time of a regular Kage Mane. (No lower than 1 post)
Name: Kage Nui no Jutsu [Shadow Sewing]
Type: Ninjutsu
Rank: B/S
Requirements: Nara Clan Member
Description: Kage Nui give the user the ability to raise their shadow off the ground, in the form of solid tendrils under the control of the user. Kage Nui is commonly used by the few members of the Nara Clan whom choose to engage in close-range fighting.
Number of Tendrils:
E Rank - C Rank: 2
B Rank - A Rank: 4
S Rank: 7
Note: The B-Rank version can not be used at the same time as Kage Mane. However, the S-Rank Version can. If using the Kage Nui in tandem with Kage Mane, the number of Tendrils is halved. (No lower than 1)
Name: Kage Yose no Jutsu [Shadow Gathering Technique]
Type: Ninjutsu
Rank: A
Requirements: Kage Nui no Jutsu
Description: This technique is used when the User wishes to manipulate the opponents movements, without having to move himself. After making contact via Kage Mane, the user will then perform further hand seals. Once this has been completed, 4 Shadow-Tendrils will rise up; similar to Kage Nui. Once these these 4 Tendrils have risen, they will each pierce through a hand or foot (one per tendril). The user is then capable of controlling the opponent like a puppet. This could be used to stab the opponent, remove things from the person without having to risk removing it from yourself, (As the Kage Mane makes the user and captive act in sync).
Note: Performing this halves the Bind Time.
Name: Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu [Shadow Neck Bind Technique]
Type: Ninjutsu
Rank: A
Requirements: Kage Mane no Jutsu
Description: Kage Kubi Shibari is often used by members of the Nara Clan whom can't find another way of inflicting damage upon an opponent. This technique is performed after the user has made contact with Kage Mane. Once contact has been made, shadow hands will come out from the User's shadow, making their way to the opponent. Once these hands reach the opponent, they can be used to inflict physical pain; such as choking the opponent.
Note: Performing this halves the Bind Time.
Background:
- Spoiler:
- Born to the clan Nara, Ashitaka was an oddity among the clan. Bearing green eyes, a recessive trait, he was remarked upon since his birth. A skilled chess and go player, as well as a shrewd backgammon player, Ashitaka took advantage of the vast game library to learn tactics and critical thinking skills. He lead his class at the academy in squad tactics, but fell behind in his literature and leadership studies. As a young man he failed to understand the value of people as more than just pieces in the great game, and it often brought about sole survivors in their exercises, despite inevitable victory for the team.
The value of human life was taught to him by a new friend and future teammate, Cho Akamichi. Cho had stood up for Inomura Yamanaka, another future team-mate, when he was being picked on by other academy students. Inomura had been hung upside down by his shoes and used as a sort of rubber shuriken target practice. Cho, seeing her friend being assaulted, sprang into action, knocking out two of the boys herself before the third ran. Cho brought Inomura down and brushed him off, all the while, Ashitaka watched from the shadows.
Cho was so concerned with Inomura that she didn't realize she was about to be ambushed by the third boy. Luckily, Ashitaka had been there and captured him within the Nara's Shadow Mimic Technique, saving her from a strong blow to the head. Walking out from the shadow with the boy caught in his grasp, Cho took the opportunity to knock the boy unconscious and grin at Ashitaka. She explained to him that she wanted to protect Inomura because she could, that he was an essential piece to their team. When he asked what she meant by team, Cho told him that she meant the team of Konoha.
Ashitaka took this to heart, realizing that a team could only be strong if they kept their pieces alive. That the game wasn't as simple as move and counter-move; and that you can't simply reset the pieces. They grew to be close friends, Inomura, Ashitaka, and Cho, each of them having a yo-yo, given to them by Cho.
Gennin selection went surprisingly well for Ashitaka, being joined to the newly formed trio, Ino-Shita-Cho, dubbed so as homage to groups past. The trio was taught by a Hyuuga mentor that focused on Cho's martial prowess and his tactics, using Inomura more as a support unit. During this time, Ashitaka learned of his affinity for wind style jutsu, and utilized it to create much longer shadows by moving a torrent of leaves. This technique earned him much praise from their mentor.
The trio was often used in a formation similar to their ancestors Ino-Shika-Cho. Inomura would possess the mind of the enemy after Ashitaka had captured them. Cho would then finish it with a vicious Taijutsu strike. The technique was successful, however Inomura had fair taijutsu skill himself, surpassing Ashitaka throughout their time as gennin, and eventually became jealous of their master's focus on the other two.
During their Chunin exams, their instructor told them that Cho would be the group leader, with Ashitaka running second. This proved to be a good idea, however one decided he did not want to follow along. Inomura broke rank, against Ashitaka's orders in a combat situation. Inomura rushed in, dodging Ashitaka's shadow mimic, and went on the assault. Unfortunately, this action left Cho unguarded in her assault. A trio of kunai in her back brought Cho down, and, while Inomura's assault finished the enemy, Cho fell.
Cradling Cho in his arms, Ashitaka held her hand as she told him to protect Team Konoha, but not to let that protection break the team. Inomura stared down at his fallen comrade and his partner, tears streaming down his cheeks. Ashitaka looked up, closing Cho's eyes as he sent up an exploding tag to have her body, and those of their opponents, returned to their families. He and Inomura left the scene, the Yamanaka trailing behind as Ashitaka led toward the objective. Before going in for the final strike on the last remaining team, Ashitaka spoke with Inomura.
"Inomura-kun, I understand your frustrations. You have been underestimated since we became Gennin, and that was not fair. I need you now to take on your role and Cho's in this fight. You will carry Cho's memory and her will, you will be her fist. You will be the one who saves your allies. Here's what we need to do." Pulled out of his shock, Inomura focused on the mission at hand. They would grieve, but that would be for later.
Inomura and Ashitaka both passed into the rank of Chuunin, Ashitaka doing so with Cho’s red yo-yo in his pocket. The team of Ino-Shita remained a standard on missions of importance, and their friendship held fast by Ashitaka’s forgiveness. Ashitaka learned a lesson that would guide his life from then on, protect your team; your entire team.
His time as a chuunin was short-lived. He was selected as a squad leader only one year after acquiring the rank, and he took on a troupe of gennin as his. The trio was a rowdy group, a trio of brats that held little respect for their young leader. Ashitaka learned how to get them to want to fight as a group, showing that as individuals they could accomplish little, but when working together, they can overcome great odds.
He saw a schism forming between two of the members of his unit, they were jealous of one another for different reasons. Ashitaka, knowing what can happen when jealousy takes hold, nipped the problem in the bud. He sat down to talk to both of them, working through their problems together. The team worked like a fine tuned machine afterward, and even overcame a much stronger ninja who had immobilized Ashitaka. The team building ability and tactics caught the eye of higher ups, and soon he was promoted to Jounin. As a Jounin, he didn’t teach often, instead working as a tactical officer in combat situations as well as a member of the Hokage’s personal guard.
The personal guard of the Third Hokage had their work cut out for them, thirteen separate attempts on the leader’s life, each thwarted by the flawless group. His meteoric rise continued and Ashitaka took lead of the group. After taking lead of the group, Ashitaka lead without incident, protecting the Hokage from two further attacks before he stepped down in order to teach, handing the reins to Inomura. Spending some time teaching, he was able to enjoy the youthful energies of Konoha’s academy students. Each class he taught had fewer than two dropouts, and each graduate did well as members of Team Konoha.
He took over the Nara clan, the position given to him by the former head. The man said he simply wanted to retire and play Shogi. Ashitaka ascended to head of the Nara clan, and spoke on its behalf. He rarely spoke in the meetings of the clans, instead listening to each and garnering what understanding he could.
The deaths of the Third and Fourth Hokage was unexpected, and the turmoil that followed was unprecedented.
The clans each vied for position, arguing their value as the most important in the power behind Konoha. The Hyuuga argued that their Byakugan gave them a clear advantage in seeing more, the Uchiha saying much the similar. The Senju spoke of their heritage as descendants of Hokage. It was a chaotic time within the higher ups of Konohagakure. It was Ashitaka who quelled the fury of dissent.
“Konohagakure is a nation with a passion. The people of Konohagakure are hardworking and stout individuals with a will to break the earth and lay low the mountains. The people deserve better than this, better than us, bickering and arguing when we should be uniting to create a better and more powerful village…” He began catching the attention of the clan leaders around him. “The Village hidden in the Leaves is like a powerful oak, strong and sturdy against all that come. Wind, rain, stone and lightning, we have weathered through. The powerful tree, made up of the branches that are the clans. When the branches fight amongst themselves, the strength falters and the leaves begin to fall. We are those leaves. We, the people of Konohagakure, are the ones who bring life to the country. It is our jobs to make sure those leaves don’t fall. We are the tree, the trunk, the limbs and the roots. We are Team Konoha, and we need to be united.”
